House Sex Traffic Bill Could Limit Free Speech

(Washington, DC) - A bill passed Wednesday 388-25 by the U.S. House of Representatives is a push towards Internet censorship and does not fight sex traffickers. H.R. 1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA), allows private lawsuits and criminal prosecutions against websites, based user actions. These new liabilities will undoubtedly lead to platforms policing more user speech. Posted 3/1/18
